STATUS: Lex has crossed over the rainbow bridge ~
The boy's name Lex
means 'Defender of Mankind'.
This little fellow was a black (Ebony) straight coated Peterbald kitten.
The coat of an adult Straight coated PD is very much like an Oriental Short Hair.
Tight, close-lying, and lacking an undercoat.
Unfortunately, after a two week long struggle, we have lost this little guy to FKS (fading kitten syndrome).
That is something that typically affects a kitten either in their first week of life, or during the weaning process.
He was a little fighter, and I was standing the round-the-clock vigil with the vets constantly on call, but, sadly he past away early this morning, 10/24/2007.
May he be in a better place now, we will miss this sweet little guy so very much  :(  ~

Lex is such a deep, rich Ebony he is a tough one to take pics of!

This is the funniest look, but I always like to try and include one straight on shot if possible, so.... lol enjoy

Now just over a week old :)
His eyes are the last to open; just peeking now ~

With the flash from the camera, you can see how thin his coat is!

No flash again and he looks black lol...

You will be AMAZED how he will change over the next few weeks!!

He will have a coat similar to one of my past kittens, Irusan.
Check out Irusan's page
if you would like to see how this little one's coat is likely to develop!

Look how naked those little legs are!
But don't worry, he will never lose his coat!

This little guy is a striaght coated Peterbald.
His straight whiskers tell us that
he will never lose his coat, become hairless, or grow brushy hair.
His coat is extremely thin, and, while that is to be a little expected because they were a week premature, it is also a good indication that these kittens' coats are going to be as spectacular as a top show Oriental SH !

BRAND NEW BABIES!!!
